Mobile bill payment has increased rapidly over the last half decade. Is your practice ready for it?

The world has changed significantly since the release of the first iPhone in 2007. iPhones, and smartphones more broadly, have effected a major shift in not only how we communicate with our friends and family, listen to music, and browse the web, but also how we conduct business. The age of the smartphone has brought with it the age of mobile payment. From ordering groceries and hailing a Lyft to sending money to friends, the smartphone has enabled commerce to move on from the old systems of paper and pen and welcome in an era of mobile-first business.

As consumers grow increasingly more comfortable with making payments from their phones, the onus is on business owners to cater to this shift in behavior–especially within the world of healthcare, where evidence of this new mobile-first preference is becoming more and more apparent.

From 2017 to 2020, nearly twice as many consumers used a mobile app to pay recurring bills, with almost a quarter of consumers now paying their monthly bills through a mobile app.

Patients are also beginning to demand mobile medical bill payment, with 55% of consumers indicating interest in paying their medical bills from their phones.

Beyond paying bills, 54% of patients prefer to receive their bills electronically, yet only 29% of patients actually receive them that way.

It's time for doctors to start taking advantage of the opportunity this new mobile-first era presents: 56% of patients would consider switching healthcare providers for a better payment experience.

You can be that better payment experience by simply offering what patients are asking for: electronic bills and mobile bill payment.

And with Peachy, offering such a solution is easier than you might think. Our simple approach can have you sending electronic bills and collecting mobile payments in no time. To find out how, request a demo!
